Shelf Date ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Shelf Date app ("App"), you agree to the terms of this policy.
Information you provide directly: When you use the App, you may enter product names, expiry dates, categories, and notes. This information is stored locally on your device using Apple's CoreData framework and is not transmitted to our servers.
Camera and photo library access: With your permission, the App uses your device camera and photo library to scan barcodes and extract expiry dates from product packaging. Images are processed on-device and are not uploaded or retained after scanning.
Barcode lookups: When you scan a barcode, the App may send the barcode number to the Open Food Facts API (openfoodfacts.org) to retrieve product information. This is an anonymous request and does not include any personal identifying information. Please review the Open Food Facts Privacy Policy for details.
Notifications: With your permission, we use Apple's notification system to send you reminders about expiring items. Notification content is generated locally on your device.
Purchase information: In-app purchases are processed entirely through Apple's App Store and StoreKit. We do not receive, store, or process any payment information. Please review Apple's Privacy Policy for information about how purchase data is handled.
We do not collect, transmit, or store:
All item data you enter is stored locally on your device. If you enable iCloud (via your device settings), Apple may sync your data across your devices using iCloud Drive. This data is subject to Apple's iCloud Privacy Policy.
We do not operate any servers that store your personal data.

Important: Shelf Date is a reminder tool only. Expiry date information is entered by you or retrieved from third-party databases. We make no representations as to the accuracy of any expiry dates or product information displayed in the App. Always use your own judgement when assessing whether food, medicine, or other products are safe to use. Do not rely on Shelf Date as a substitute for professional medical, legal, or safety advice.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Shelf Date and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including without limitation loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the App.
The App and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Shelf Date and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not use our trademarks, logos, or brand elements without our prior written consent.
We reserve the right to terminate or suspend access to the App at our sole discretion, without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, third parties, or for any other reason.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Victoria, Australia, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
